There is no joy in laughing alone. So, you want to be sharing some funny bits from your social media screens, conversations of a chat or work related screens. You screenshot and share. But how do you take a screenshot on Mac?
How to take a screenshot on Mac
Ask any Apple loyalist and they will tell you, whatever PCs can do, Macs can do them better! Capturing your screen on Mac is really simple.
The easiest way to take screenshots on a Mac is to use one of the following keyboard shortcuts.*
This captures a screenshot of your entire screen.
This turns the cursor into a crosshair, which you can drag to select a portion of your screen to capture. Release the mouse button or trackpad to take the shot.
- Command+Shift+4, then click on the space bar, then click on a window
Clicking on the space bar turns the crosshair into a little camera icon, which can be navigated over any open window. Click on your chosen window to take a screenshot of it. A screenshot this captured will have a border with a drop shadow.
Saving the screenshot
Mac saves these screenshots to your Desktop as PNG image file. However, if you just need to copy and paste a screenshot into a document without saving it to a file, hold down the control key in addition to the keyboard shortcuts for screenshot (mentioned above for How to take a screenshot on Mac). Example, for pasting a screenshot of an entire screen into a Word document, press Command+Control+Shift+3, open a Word doc, then paste the screenshot.
