Melbourne’s Best Burgers, from the point of view of an American

Next Stop to Burger Perfection: Easey’s

Warning: The following article will make you hungry and craving.

Easey’s Burgers, located on 48 Easey Street, Collingwood VIC, has found a way to transport your imagination and tastebuds in an unforgettable burger experience that speeds past any other.

Excitement. From the moment you set eyes on Easey’s unique fourth story, which is made up of three train carriages, you know you are in for quite a ride. Walking through the initial first floor and up a graffiti riddled staircase guides you to a train car with a view; complete with bar, booths, and the positive aroma of burgers.

The Burgers. Easey’s offers an extensive array of burgers, sides, brekky, and all around comfort food. However, a single item caught my eye and stared right back at me, as if I saw my one true love walking towards me down the sidewalk: The Melbourne Madness. A burger topped with your standard two beef patties, three slices of cheese, bacon, pickle, onion, jalapeño, mustard, ketchup, potato pancake, and fried dim sum. And let’s not forget about the literal final topping: a buttery soft, yet strong brioche style bun that held it all together beautifully. While this might sound intimidating to some, the smaller size of the patties and sensational contrast of flavours and textures sent me on a perfectly sized one-way bullet train to heaven.

The Fries (you call them “chips”). Undeniably the best fries I have had in my entire life. The wide, triangular cut and perfect golden brown outside was topped with a salty n’ sweet seasoning that was unmatched. I should have gotten the large.

The Doughnut. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, their warm, homemade doughnut with a filling they simply called “blue” was calling to me. The sweet and savoury finish to the meal left me smiling and satisfied.

The Verdict. The train and graffiti inspired rooftop space animates a comfortable atmosphere, paired with a staff of friends that are proud to serve. Easey’s has changed the way I will look at trains for the rest of my life.
